Sorry to hear that democracy is so disturbing to you, Bryan Corbett (Gazette, Nov. 11) . Too bad that almost two of every three voters want nothing more to do with your beloved branch library.

So this new city council has the sheer arrogance to ignore the results of the plebiscite that 63 per cent voted against the branch library. There were no conditions on the voting sheet, it was "Yes" or "No" and the voters clearly stated "No.

Why is the federal government in such a hurry to pass its marijuana legalization legislation when there are still so many questions and so few answers? Just last week, the Alberta Association of Chiefs of Police said that the legislation is coming to

In reply to Ron Kube (Gazette, Nov. 8) who said "Democracy: It’s when elected leaders balance the needs of all their citizens, and not just the majority. Democracy: It’s when the newly elected mayor and council respect the voice of 38.

Regarding the story on affordable housing ( Gazette , Nov. 15), I have the privilege of knowing the young lady and her beautiful little girl. She is a hard working woman and luckily has some family support to look after her child while she works.

I wonder if Bryan Corbett (Gazette, Nov. 11) would have the same skewed attitude towards democracy if the vote was 61.7% for the library. I think not. I expect the Mayor and council to respect the wishes of the 61.

As a strong supporter of the need for a branch library I attended the city council’s meeting on Nov. 6 as I was interested in Councillor Sheena Hughes’ motion to rescind the borrowing by-law and to discontinue further planning for the branch library.
