Jill Cunningham’s column ( St. Albert Gazette , Commentary, Dec. 8) could not be more wrongheaded. My oldest daughter, Lisa Anne, was premature and subjected to severe bullying in Greenfield Elementary School in Edmonton in the 1970s.

What a wonderful story in the Dec. 12 Gazette about ROE Roofing and its kind gesture by providing a roof for someone who desperately needs it without cost. You know, it doesn’t surprise me in a way.

How does it go? If wishes were horses then beggars would ride! As a St. Albert beggar, here is my wish list.

In the spirit of Christmas, I hope someone will do the right thing. On Nov. 28, I took my daughter swimming. I placed my wedding ring and engagement ring (they're soldered together) in my diaper bag.

It was reported earlier this month that Mayor Don Iveson said “the free ride is over,” that it’s time to look at other municipalities to help foot the bill for things like the zoo, Telus science centre, etc.

Our city council needs to rescind the not-needed storefront library project and put $796,200 towards the Repair, Maintain and Replace (RMR) budget.
