Jill Cunningham’s column (St. Albert Gazette, Commentary, Dec. 8) could not be more wrongheaded.
My oldest daughter, Lisa Anne, was premature and subjected to severe bullying in Greenfield Elementary School in Edmonton in the 1970s. She was both physically and emotionally harassed.
When I complained to the principal, he said, “She is retarded.” Had I not taken her out of that school and put her into Tempo School, she would have suffered for the rest of her life.
If Ms. Cunningham’s attitude is indicative of our St. Albert school system, then she should be ashamed.
