This is a letter to all business owners. Why do you feel that you have a right to offend me and others by not acknowledging the Christmas season? Has this country come so far down the politically correct slope, that you don't feel the need to say MERRY CHRISTMAS anymore? Do you not do your best to lure customers into your business during the Christmas season so that we might spend our hard-earned money with you?
Do you not have enough respect for your customers, that you are afraid to say Merry Christmas to us when we enter and exit your business? Even the Salvation Army volunteers don't seem to have Christmas cheer anymore. They stand guard over their kettles waiting for people to give, but they can't even acknowledge the very season that they take advantage of. I saw one lady guarding a Salvation Army Kettle today and she was busy knitting and didn't even look up at us, never mind saying anything to us.
I hear customers in front of me in line up whispering those words "Merry Christmas" to the clerk as they leave, I make a point of saying "Please don't whisper, say it out loud for all to hear" I make a point also of saying the words loudly and proudly to the clerks as I leave their shops.
This country celebrates Christmas, period. If someone is offended by that, they don't have to participate in the season, but I amongst most of this country DO celebrate the Christmas season, so please, if you expect us to leave our money with your business, at least have the decency to say "Merry Christmas" to us! I take note of which businesses actually do say those magical words, and those are the businesses that will retain my business in the future. So on that note, I wish you all a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!
