Alberta votes for change

Alberta votes for change

It remains to be seen how the newly elected provincial NDP government will perform. The party "name" didn't matter, people were just tired of the self- centred, self-serving, arrogant and pretentious regime that was in place.
Candidate should resign from job

Candidate should resign from job

With the perception of conflict of interest of ex-councillor Prefontaine’s hiring by the city still fresh in the minds of St. Albertans, I find it disconcerting that another conflict of interest issue has appeared in the upcoming by-election.
An open letter to city council and administration

An open letter to city council and administration

I write to you today with concerns surrounding the appointment of former councillor Gilles Prefontaine to the role of chief community development officer for the City of St. Albert – which for all intents and purposes is the No.
Elections can bring out the worst in people

Elections can bring out the worst in people

Like many others, I have been completely captivated by Rachel Notley and the NDP, and their message of hope and transformation during this provincial election.

A letter to parents of thieves

A letter to parents of thieves

This is a note to the parents of the kids who trashed our acreage home on Feb. 17. The police believe the suspects arrived by snowmobile while we were wintering in Arizona. They trashed every room in our house looking for money, drugs, whatever they could steal. What did they ultimately get? A few dollars in change, some personal articles of jewelry, a suitcase to carry their 'loot,' and two very ornate Mexican sombreros.
City hall needs a shakeup

City hall needs a shakeup

There are days when I just have to shake my head over the machinations of those at city hall who purport to govern on our behalf. Technically, I suppose, Coun. Prefontaine was as entitled as anybody to apply for a cushy, high-paying city job.

Re: “Safety should be paramount” – Gazette, April 18: There’s a good chance you’ve heard of St. Albert’s LoSeCa Foundation, which is a non-profit provider of housing and services for people with disabilities.
