City hall needs a shakeup

There are days when I just have to shake my head over the machinations of those at city hall who purport to govern on our behalf. Technically, I suppose, Coun. Prefontaine was as entitled as anybody to apply for a cushy, high-paying city job.

There are days when I just have to shake my head over the machinations of those at city hall who purport to govern on our behalf. Technically, I suppose, Coun. Prefontaine was as entitled as anybody to apply for a cushy, high-paying city job. Ethically speaking, it appears he might have approached the matter in a more appropriate manner by resigning from council before he applied. Nothing like having your cake and eating it too.

I do, however, question the skill-set of a city manager who installs a qualified senior engineer as head of Economic Development and a marketer in charge of Planning and Engineering. The whole affair smacks of cronyism.

There are also days when I (almost) wish that Bill Holtby were back in the saddle at city hall. Perhaps we are due for another shakeup down there.
