With the perception of conflict of interest of ex-councillor Prefontaine’s hiring by the city still fresh in the minds of St. Albertans, I find it disconcerting that another conflict of interest issue has appeared in the upcoming by-election.
Ms. Tash Taylor may have many credentials that would make her a good city councillor, but her decision to not resign from the St. Albert Housing Society, while not legally a conflict of interest, may be an ethical conflict of interest.
At a time when the actions of many public figures are being scrutinized, it is imperative that people wanting to be in taxpayer-funded positions, be not only legally “clean” but also ethically “clean.”
