I am pleased that council has been considerate enough to give residents time to respond to the water-use bylaw before third reading.

The ongoing personal and quite vicious attacks on Bob Russell and, by extension, anyone else who is not convinced this is the best time to spend an estimated $12 million on a new library building prompts the question: why is the pro side so adamant?

In response to the woman with the allergy to bee stings (Gazette, Nov. 28 issue), I am sympathetic to her situation. But adhering to a “for the greater good” philosophy, I support the cultivation of urban bees.

Of all the services which the City of St. Albert offers to its citizens, Library Services is at the top of my list. However, I cannot support the proposal that the City should build a branch library at an estimated cost of $14 million.

I am writing about our city council, the assessment of its behavior provided by Ms. Linda Moffat on behalf of the St. Albert Chamber of Commerce, and the reported reactions of Coun. MacKay and Mayor Crouse.

I have read letter after letter these past few months, hanging a lot of our woes on Patrick Draper our city manager.

The spectacle that is our city council is embarrassing to say the least. The tone, sarcasm and innuendo has reached a critical point. Councillors were elected in order to represent ALL of the citizens of this city.

This in response to the letter in the Nov. 21 Gazette from Linda Wiggins re: chickens in the city. I also believe there should be no bee hives. See what has happened already in Edmonton when they decided to let people bee-keep in their back yards.

As I write, I am sitting on the 211 in the midst of morning rush hour after the first big snowfall of the season.

Sturgeon County does it again. This county only knows how to spend, with no feedback from the actual residents on how they should or might spend.
