No to backyard bee hives

This in response to the letter in the Nov. 21 Gazette from Linda Wiggins re: chickens in the city. I also believe there should be no bee hives. See what has happened already in Edmonton when they decided to let people bee-keep in their back yards.

I also believe there should be no bee hives. See what has happened already in Edmonton when they decided to let people bee-keep in their back yards. The queen decided that was not the place for her and she took her swarm and settled in a neighbourhood full of children. People could not leave their street, never mind their homes! I am extremely allergic to bees, wasps, hornets, and now mosquitoes of all things! I carry three Epi-pens, not covered by any insurance, at $148.00 each.

I fully understand this let’s get back to nature syndrome taking place, but it should not be at the expense of one of your neighbours.

I am also allergic to feathers of any kind. As much as I love my neighbours dearly, why should I have to move if I cannot breathe in my own backyard due to the smell of feathers and chicken coops?

Just saying.
