Sometimes I think we can be a little tough on our city officials. They enter the field to serve, to make St. Albert a better place but many of us become very cynical. Well recently I volunteered for the St. Albert food drive.

If the Canadian Taxpayers Federation is looking for somebody to be the recipient of their Teddy's award for most wasteful government spending, the mayor and councillors who voted for the $5 million traffic circle should win the award.

I read with interest B. Corbett's letter (Gazette, Oct. 15) about how our MPs should decide electoral reform. Mr. Corbett appears to like Australia's process where voting is mandatory, and a fine is levied if you do not vote. Sounds good in theory.
