Plaque honours three local men

I would like to share with your readers my family’s thanks to the City, St. Albert's Ducks Unlimited Committee and the many friends and family who gathered at Lois Hole Provincial Park (Sept. 11) to honour three of St. Albert’s late community builders.

More than 75 years of combined volunteer work by Mike Rasberry, Bud Gau and Albert Findlay were marked with the installation of a plaque along the park’s trail.

The mayor’s office and city staff were crucial in enabling the commemorative plaque and stone to be placed in such a beautiful location near the BLESS viewing platform. Deputy Mayor Cathy Heron offered gracious remarks at the event. Ducks Unlimited volunteers, including Hank Reinbold and Rob Dunn, spent years making this commemoration a reality.

I would highly recommend a visit to the John E. Poole boardwalk for the views and educational signs along the way. The object of these three men’s work was to conserve such wetlands and other wildlife habitats. I know that to be recognized for that work would have been a great honour for them.
