The football heroes and clubs of today played host to football stars of tomorrow this past long weekend.

The St. Albert Cardinals finished the long weekend off strong in the Early Bird Tournament held at Legion Memorial Park. The peewee AAA Cardinals dominated in the round robin in their division, coming out on top, and undefeated.

Diamond action The St. Albert Tigers play the Confederation Park Cubs on Thursday, May 22, at 6:45 p.m. in the Sunburst Baseball League.

Metro Rugby This Wednesday, May 21 is the first round of the high school Division 1 men’s quarter-finals.

The St. Albert Impact soccer teams had a medal-worthy showing this weekend at the Victoria Day Classic tournament that ran the whole long weekend, hosted by the St. Albert Soccer Association.

The metro Edmonton high school rugby playoffs kick off Tuesday in the men’s and women’s brackets.

Nor’Westers Park – It’s looking like 2009 again for the women’s team at the St. Albert Rugby Football Club.

The annual Early Bird tournament, hosted by the St. Albert Minor Baseball Association, is underway in all six divisions. The Early Bird features 46 teams and SAMBA is represented in every division with eight Cardinals’ teams in total.

Airway Park – The fantastic firsts of St. Albert rugby quenched their thirst with the sweet taste of victory in Thursday’s lid-lifter against their bitter archrivals.

Playoff positions are up for grabs today in metro Edmonton high school division one men’s rugby. At 4:45 p.m. the Bellerose Bulldogs tackle the Bev Facey Falcons at Ellerslie. Both teams are 0-2 in pool A. At 6:15 p.m.
