If you’ve hit the rodeo, enjoyed the pancake breakfast and still don’t want to go home, you’re in luck. There’s lots of rugby to be played Saturday.
This Saturday, May 24, there is a double header for the St. Albert Rugby Football Club at Alpine Field (behind Elmer S. Gish Elementary).
The division 2 men are playing the Pirates in Edmonton second division men’s action at 12:30 p.m.
SARFC women will face the Grande Prairie Sirens later, at 2 p.m. The women are playing a tough, first-class type of rugby this year, much improved over last year. Depth issues last year seem to have been addressed with a larger roster and the return of several skilled veterans.
Minor Baseball
Some midget AAA action can be caught Wednesday, May 21 at 6:30 p.m. at Legion Memorial Park as the St. Albert Cardinals play the Sherwood Park Dukes.
The first annual Rainmaker Rodeo Invitation Tournament kicks off on Friday, May 23. The tournament is hosted by the St. Albert Junior Cardinals and is part of the tournament schedule in the North Central Alberta Baseball League, a senior AA circuit.
The tournament runs through to Sunday, May 25 at Legion Memorial Park – complete with refreshments at the beer gardens.
Tennis
Want to watch some high quality sports activity Saturday that doesn’t involve large bovines? Then the St. Albert Tennis Club has your ticket.
The annual doubles tournament will be held at the Mission courts all day May 24. To make things even more interesting, last year's winners of club doubles tournaments must play with a different partner when entering the same event in this year's tournament. A list of “A-Event” doubles winners is posted in the clubhouse.
The courts are located at Mission Ave. and Perron Street.
