The City of St. Albert has issued a fire restriction order, which prohibits fire pits and barbecues located in public parks, burn barrels and incinerators in rural areas, and wood burning fire pits on driveways but not backyards.
The fire restriction order is an upgrade to the fire advisory that the city has had in place since late April.
“The change from the current fire advisory to a fire restriction is due to the forecasted continuation of warm and dry conditions, with no substantial precipitation expected over the next seven days,” reads a city news release issued this morning. “Residents are asked to use extra caution with propane and natural gas outdoor appliances, and dispose of smoking materials (cannabis, cigarettes, cigars, matches or lighters) properly.”
