St. Albert RCMP are asking for the public’s help after a woman was seriously injured in a dog attack in the city’s Alderwood area.
Police say the 61-year-old woman was walking her dog around 7:45 p.m. on Aug. 14 when she was bitten by a large black dog. She was taken to hospital by EMS and required surgery for her injuries.
The victim’s dog, a Golden Retriever, was also attacked and sustained bites to its hind legs. It was admitted to a veterinary clinic for treatment.
RCMP are working to identify both the dog and the young woman who was walking it at the time. The dog is described as resembling a black Boxer, and was larger than the victim’s Golden Retriever.
The woman with the dog is described as being between 18 and 20 years old with brown hair.
Anyone with information about the dog, its owner, or witnesses to the incident is asked to contact St. Albert RCMP at 780-458-7700. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, online at www.P3Tips.com, or through the “P3 Tips” app.
