Smoke from a house fire that started last night in Heritage Lakes could be seen all the way from the north side of St. Albert.
Linda Portsmouth saw the smoke as she was leaving her home in North Ridge to the Save on Foods in Grandin.
She thought it was coming from Edmonton, but unexpectedly came across the burning house shortly after passing by the Enjoy Centre.
“The firefighters had just started to pull out their hoses, and they were fighting it from the front and the back,” Portsmouth said.
She shared photos of the fire with the Gazette.
The back of the house seemed to have taken the brunt of the damage, she said.
There was “lots of black smoke,” she said. “The whole back end of the house is completely damaged, and it looks like it got the siding of the other house.”
The Gazette will have more to come.
