Alberta’s United Conservative Party emerged bloodied but still standing in Monday’s bitterly contested provincial election.

Defeated UCP candidate Angela Wood says she can't commit or comment on another run at municipal politics come 2025.

Nally wins with 51 per cent

Renaud took some 58 per cent of the vote in the St. Albert riding to handily win re-election. UCP challenger Angela Wood took about 40 per cent, with Green Party candidate Cameron Jefferies earning roughly two per cent. 

Dale Nally, UCP, is pulling in 51 per cent of the vote with Karen Shaw, NDP, bringing in 46 per cent of the vote. 

By 11:15 p.m. on Monday evening, the UCP had won 33 seats, compared to just 20 for the NDP.

“I’m super excited and incredibly grateful to the people of St. Albert for voting for me,” St. Albert incumbent Marie Renaud said Monday night.

Four-term Sturgeon County councillor Karen Shaw has 8,987 votes counted so far, giving Nally 52 per cent of the vote and leaving Shaw with 42 per cent of the vote.
