The St. Albert Tigers will show their stripes this weekend at the Sunburst Baseball League tournament in Fort Saskatchewan. Friday’s score between the Tigers (2-6) and Confederation Park Cubs (6-4) was unavailable at press time.

The St. Albert Stars looked like contenders in Saturday’s shutout victory instead of pretenders in the previous weekend’s loss to the Alberta Football League champions.

The 21st year of Gator rugby at Lorne Akins School was a smashing success. The Gators defended their Greater Edmonton league male and female sevens’ championships at Sunday’s junior high flag rugby tournament at Ellerslie Rugby Park.

Jakob Brinkhof finished on top of the podium with personal-best performances in javelin and shot put at the Alberta Schools’ Athletic Association championships. In the junior male division the Grade 11 Bellerose Bulldog stuck the javelin at 51.

The St. Albert Stars host the Edmonton Stallions tonight in the Alberta Football League. Kickoff is 6 p.m. at Riel Recreation Park. Last weekend the Stars lost the AFL opener 19-10 to the defending champion Calgary Gators in St. Albert.

The St. Albert Skyhawks broke open Monday’s final with two late goals to win the metro Edmonton division three men’s soccer championship at the ESA Complex.

The St. Albert Miners continue their pursuit of perfection this weekend in the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League. Friday's contest against the Edmonton Outlaws signalled the second half of the regular season for the undefeated second B team.
