The St. Albert Impact men’s teams can maintain their first-place rankings with victories this week in the Edmonton District Soccer Association.

Tonight at 7 p.m. the division 1B Impact 2 team hosts the Liberian Lone Stars at Riel Recreation Park.

The Impact are one point ahead of the second-place DV Oldboys with four wins, two ties and one loss.

Last week the Impact booted the Punjab Warriors 8-1.

Mark McQuaid is tied for the division lead in goals with seven.

Thursday the Impact 1 premier team plays Punjab United at 7:45 p.m. at Foote Field.

The Impact leads second-place AC Milan by one point with five wins, three ties and one loss.

Last week the Impact and AC Milan battled to a 1-1 draw.

Haris Kevac is the division’s co-leader in goals with six.

All three teams at the St. Albert Rugby Football Club are on display Saturday at the Ellerslie Rugby Club.

At 2:15 p.m. in the Edmonton Rugby Union the SARFC women scrum down against the Sharks and the second division men battle the Fort McMurray Knights.

At 4 p.m. in the Alberta Cup the first division men ruck and maul with the Calgary Canucks.

In the ERU women’s spring league SARFC (4-1) is third behind the Clanswomen (6-0) and Lep/Tigers (5-1). The Sharks are winless.

The SARFC second 15 (3-1) are ranked third. The Leduc Crude (3-0) and Knights (3-0) are tied for first with two more bonus points than the seconds.

The seconds were awarded a 10-0 default win after their 15-13 loss to the Pirates on May 24 in St. Albert because the Pirates (0-4) played an ineligible player who received a red-card suspension the week before.

The SARFC first 15 (5-0) are the runaway pennant leaders and the Canucks (2-2) are third.

The firsts received a 20-0 forfeit win when the Calgary Saints (3-1) were unable to reschedule a match against SARFC from May 10 at Ellerslie.

The St. Albert Soccer Association’s Tournament of Champions for U10 and U12 community league teams kicks off Saturday.

The tournament features 30 teams (14 girls and 16 boys) in six divisions: U10 A, U10 B and U12 boys and U10 A, U10 B and U12 girls.

Matches take place at the Attwood, Langholm, Pineview, Deer Ridge, Larose, Eldorado, Erin Ridge and Hodgson fields.
