The St. Albert Tigers host the Parkland White Sox Wednesday night in the Sunburst Baseball League.
The first pitch is 7:30 p.m. at Legion Memorial Park.
Both teams are 2-5 and the Tigers defeated Parkland twice in Spruce Grove by scores of 7-5 and 9-3.
This weekend the Tigers are competing in the Fort Saskatchewan tournament.
Last weekend in Saskatoon the Tigers posted victories of 6-3 against the Saskatoon Dodgers and 7-3 against the Saskatoon Smokin’ Guns before the tournament was rained out Saturday afternoon.
Tonight at 7 p.m. the St. Albert Cardinals visit the Spruce Grove White Sox in the NorWest Midget AAA Baseball League.
The Cardinals (16-2) are undefeated in six games after sweeping Saturday’s doubleheader against the Calgary Rockies (7-12) by scores of 11-4 and 8-0 at Legion Memorial Park.
Spruce Grove (8-4) is 8-2 in its last 10 games.
In game one against the Rockies the Cardinals overcame a 3-0 deficit in the top of the first to lead 11-3 after four innings.
The home team outhit the Rockies 11-4 and the visitors made three errors.
Starting pitcher Dylan Gates surrendered three runs on three hits while striking-out five and walking three in five innings. Jared Roddelt worked in relief.
Evan Loranger batted 3-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Connor Burns and Jake Fischer also drove home two runs apiece while going 2-for-4.
In the second tilt Burns pitched his fourth complete game in five starts to go 4-0 with a microscopic 0.52 ERA. He fanned six while allowing three hits and one walk over six innings. Spencer Dronkelaar pitched in relief.
Fischer batted in two runs, Austin Watamaniuk went 3-for-3 with one RBI and two runs scored and Matty Quartel and Erik Sabrowski had two hits apiece.
Thursday the Cardinals are up to bat at the 11th annual Peter DeVries Invitational Tournament, hosted by SEEBA at the Goldstick and John Fry diamonds. Game time is 7 p.m. against SEEBA 2 at Goldstick
Saturday at Goldstick the Cardinals play the Lethbridge Giants at 9 a.m. and Okotoks at noon.
The playoff round is Sunday.
The next league game is Wednesday versus Spruce Grove at 7 p.m. in St. Albert.
