Mounties, along with the Edmonton Police Service, announced Saturday morning that 28-year-old Kaj Randall was arrested in relation to the stabbing. RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Gina Slaney confirmed that Randall was facing an attempted murder charge but said “no comment” when asked if Chaisson's death means the charge will be upgraded to murder.
Slaney said a further update will be provided by RCMP later today, but didn't provide a time.
A GoFundMe page has been organized by a friend of the family to raise money for the teen's memorial.
“Jaeden was loved by many for her kindness, vibrant spirit, and the joy she brought to everyone around her,” the page reads. “Her unexpected and tragic departure has left a void in our hearts that can never be filled.”
