I thought that it was interesting and somewhat disturbing that I had to explain to some of my American "friends" that when Trump imposes import tariffs, better identified as a tax, on goods such as oil, natural gas, lumber and so on that they are the ones paying that tax in increased costs that have been passed on to the consumers. As I pointed out to one "friend",  the worst case scenario of a 25 per cent tariff on oil could add $1 to a gallon of their gasoline.

Now we have to explain to Trudeau and his Liberals that if they impose a retaliatory "import" tax that it will be we Canadians that will end paying in the form of higher costs of those products. And more likely than not Trudeau/Carney will end up keeping that money in the federal coffers to spend freely as they choose.

Unfortunately the coincidental timing of our current political situation here in Canada with Trump's return to the White House is not helping in the fight in the current trade war. The prorogation of Parliament at a time when we need a consolidated effort and the "coronation" of a new unelected Liberal leader to PM is not putting forth a strong united front to oppose the unprecedented U.S. aggression.

As the saying goes "I know I am but what are you?"

Another fine example of dumb and dumber.
