I’m writing this letter to voice my concern about coyotes in the area. In the early morning hours after the St. Albert fireworks behind our home at approximately 3 am, a coyote entered our back yard, where our adorable 5-year-old cat Neumann likes to sleep and attacked and killed him. We found his body quite far away, by means of his tracker, in a grassy field. It was a vicious attack in our own backyard. We are beyond devastated as he was our loving family member. The concern and advice for others is the fact that the noise of the fireworks brings these animals into our community, maybe more so than on a usual day. Please be careful with your loving pets and keep them inside or with an attentive, watchful eye during such celebrations. Our hearts are broken, and we would hate to hear of others losing their special companion. I know a few animals are missing since July 1st. I understand it’s the circle of life, but he was in his safe place in the garden he loved, and he won’t be sleeping in his chair anymore.
Kind regards
