Not related whatsoever to the pandemic, the 17 small cities in Alberta (not Edmonton and Calgary) are moving further into debt with perhaps few taxpayers paying much attention.

“The three-point hike in Alberta’s corporate income tax rate is estimated to result in an investment loss of $1.1 billion to Alberta — and an employment loss of 33,700 jobs.

Last Wednesday night, the provincial election brought out the worst in St. Albert. Or perhaps the event brought the worst out to St. Albert.

I’d like to give a huge shout out of appreciation to the St. Albert Walmart. We had family evacuated from the Entwhistle/Evansburg fire in which the tireless efforts of both the fire department and volunteers saved their home.

The wildfires currently ravaging Alberta come at a tricky time, namely right in the middle of a provincial election campaign. Premier Danielle Smith and Public Safety and Emergency Services Minister Mike Ellis both have to wear two hats right now.
