It is with great sadness that the family of Olaf Lewrenz announce the passing of Olaf on June 17, 2025 at the University of Alberta Hospital.
Olaf leaves behind his wife of 56 years, GILLIAN; his faithful companion SOPHIE GRACE (dog), sisters RUTH and HEIDI; nephew NORBERT, niece ASTRID, sister-in-law BARBARA, niece MICHELE and cousin RUPERT (Sheila) and family in Airdrie, and various other family and friends both here and in Germany.
Olaf was predeceased by his brother WALDY, sister-in-law ELIS, nephew ROLAND and brother-in-law BILL.
Olaf was born in Berlin, Germany and at the age of 15 started an apprenticeship as a machinist. When he was 16 he emigrated to Canada, where he studied and got his plumbing and gasfitters tickets and was able to work in those trades for 50 years.
In lieu of flowers we ask that a donation, in Olaf’s name, be made to the charity of one’s choice.
