With deep sorrow in our hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Olga Kolomyjec, beloved wife, mother and grandmother on August 21, 2025.

Olga is survived by daughters Janice Pyle, Christine Kolomyjec (Stephen Hayward), and Suzanne Kolomyjec (Mark Scheffer).

She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her grandchildren; Karena, Stephen (Emily Lai) and Andrea Pyle; Samantha and Matteo Sestito and Luke Wiggins, Graeme Scheffer (Jennifer Harris) and Peter and Maggie Scheffer. Olga leaves behind her sister Anne Perpar, and many relatives and dear friends. She was predeceased by her husband Stanley Kolomyjec, parents Mary and Michael Kornuta, and older sister Katie Peters.

Olga was born in Berwyn, Alberta on February 22, 1941.  She was the youngest of three girls and spent most of her childhood on a farm in the Three Lakes area.  After high school graduation she attended the University of Alberta completing a diploma in Education in 1960. There she met her sweetheart Stan and they began their life together in Gimli, Manitoba in 1961.  Olga and Stan returned to Alberta and settled in St. Albert in 1965, where they raised their three daughters. Olga later returned to University taking course work part time and completed her Bachelor of Education degree in 1980.

She retired as the Director of Administrative Services for the Health Sciences Association of Alberta in 1995 joining Stan in retirement. After enjoying a few years of retirement, she then joined Stan in operating a small airport engineering business out of their home which they did together successfully for over 20 years.

In her retirement Olga spent her days golfing at the Sturgeon Valley Golf and Country Club near St. Albert and golfing and playing bocce ball at the Desert Princess Golf Resort in Palm Springs, California.  Olga was blessed with great mental and physical health throughout her life.  She enjoyed walking the Red Willow Trails of St. Albert and hiking in Joshua Tree National Park in California.  Olga kept her mind sharp taking Ukrainian lessons through Duolingo and was a fierce and enthusiastic scrabble competitor often coming out the winner at family game time.

Olga also loved to travel and when she wasn’t venturing off around the world, you could find her cheering on her seven grandchildren playing a variety of sports such as hockey, ringette, soccer and basketball.  She was an animal lover and enjoyed walks and snuggles with all of her grand dogs.

Olga was grateful everyday for all the members of her family and what they brought to her life.  She was an excellent cook, and a gracious hostess. Her quiet, kind and thoughtful heart touched many.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you for the loving care received from the Roozen family hospice (Pilgrims Hospice) and the Home Instead care staff. We would also like to extend sincere thanks to the Edmonton Zone Palliative care team and the North Home care team.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, September 14, 2025 at 1:00 pm at the Sturgeon Valley Golf and Country Club, 25114 Sturgeon Road, Sturgeon County, Alberta.
