Fans interested in following Gordon’s career will have to wait a tiny bit as his league is on Christmas break. His team returns to action on Jan. 8 with a game against the Edge Prep U16 at the Edmonton Downtown Community Arena. 

St. Albert will get a chance to see these newly minted WHL draft picks in action when the Raiders play host to the Leduc Wilhauk Jerky Oil Kings this Wednesday and the Tetz Powell Flyers welcome in the Maple Leaf Athletic Club (MLAC) Alberta Screw Piles Leafs on Thursday. Both games will be at Jarome Iginla Arena.

From here the Slash will reset and get ready to resume their season in the Alberta Female Hockey League (AFHL). They currently sit third place in their division with a 10-6-0 record and will look to add another win onto that when the first-place Edmonton Pandas come to town on Friday night at the Go Auto Arena.

The Merchants will look to get back into their winning ways with a date with the Flyers on Wednesday in Stony Plain. The Merchants will then return for a two-game home-stand against the Morinville Jets and Wetaskiwin Icemen on Friday and Sunday. 

“It was pretty special. Coach called me, and it was so cool,” said Wilson. “I’m the only person from Alberta, so it feels good to represent St. Albert, the Glendale, and my home.” 

Crusaders setter Amber Edwards, and Gators setter Jack Drake both took home MVP honours. 

The gold medal marks the second time in two months that Harris has achieved acclaim at the international level. In October, Harris captured a silver medal in the super heavyweight division at the World No-Gi Championships and a gold medal in the open division as well. 

The good play of the Spirits could only go so far against a Raiders team that piled up two more touchdowns before the game ended for the 42-0 final score.
