“My father coached hockey in St. Albert, so that’s sort of how I got into it. I never had the skill to go pro, but I felt like I could bring my knowledge to another aspect of the game." said St. Albertan Douglas Stuart, who is now coaching a women's team in Sweden.

The St. Albert Food Bank and Community Village is gearing up for around 300 Christmas hampers this year, which is “above the “regular” hampers that folks will be needing to get them through the month," said Suzan Krecsy executive director of the food bank.

The City of St. Albert cited reduced snow fall in 2021 as the reason behind why there were fewer potholes repaired that year, but an earth and atmospheric sciences professor at the University of Alberta says this scenario won't keep trending downwards, as road maintenance may only get harder as our climate changes.

Social benefit programs like AISH, Income Support, the Alberta Seniors Benefit, and Alberta Child and Family Benefit rates will see an increase by six percent to match the rate of inflation in the coming months.

Two currently temporary executive leadership positions within St. Albert's administration will be permanent as of next year, as two motions to remove the positions were defeated on Dec. 1 in a council budget deliberation meeting.

Lori Williams, a political science professor at Mount Royal University said the Inflation Relief package addresses some top priorities for Albertans which she said include affordability, healthcare, education, and “more broadly” economy and diversification.
