As the measles outbreak continues, Alberta Health Services (AHS) has issued public health warnings over potential contact points.

AHS said that some of the contact points are located in St. Albert, Edmonton and Northern Alberta.

As of June 20, there have been 1,020 confirmed measles cases in Alberta, with 995 of them being past the period of communicability.

AHS is warning that individuals who are not protected against measles and were in the specified locations at the relevant times may have been exposed and are at a higher risk of developing measles. Individuals born in or after 1970 who are not fully immunized are at risk and should monitor themselves for symptoms.

Symptoms can include a fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes and a blotchy, red rash that appears three to seven days after getting a fever. It typically begins behind the ears and on the face before spreading down the body, according to AHS.
