Come out, enjoy some wonderful vintage cars and support a great cause. This popular community event happens Aug. 3 to 7 in St. Albert and raises funds for diabetes research and education. Many volunteer opportunities at this international car show and music festival including admission button sales, drive-in movie night assistants and dinner and silent auction assistants.

Assist the marketing co-ordinator of this organization with various tasks including changing signage, organizing mail-outs, folding pamphlets and light administrative duties. The weekly commitment is flexible as to which day and time.

Come out for a perfect day and help Edmonton’s Food Bank at the same time. The Heritage Festival is the food bank’s largest food drive of the year and takes place at Hawrelak Park in Edmonton, July 31 to Aug. 2. They require volunteers to welcome festival guests and collect non-perishable food items, unused food tickets and monetary donations.

Be surrounded by supportive and hopeful individuals and serve on the Harvest of Hope committee to help to prepare for the event. Duties include picking up auction items, helping sell tickets or marketing the event. Alternatively, you can assist with setting up the venue and event day activities on Friday, Sept. 24.

Do you have excellent interpersonal skills and are you very familiar with the community of St. Albert and its residents? Use your skills and connections to help solicit donations of cash, services and gifts in kind for the upcoming Alberta 55 Plus Winter Games in February 2011. Assistance also needed with fundraising projects and sponsor recognition. Flexible hours starting now and continuing until the games.

Do you have excellent communication and interpersonal skills? Would you like to assist with the learning needs of adult learners? Help this Edmonton organization coach and assist students through their learning process in reading, writing or math. One two-hour shift per week, Monday through Thursday, with flexible times during the day or evening.

Do you have some time to share each week with an individual in need of some companionship? Share your gift of listening and good conversation as you visit this client in his home and accompany him on coffee outings. This individual was once a world traveller and likes to discuss travel and current events. Client has an avid interest in all sports, especially English soccer.
