Do you enjoy working with children and youth? Volunteer to be a soccer coach — lots of age groups to choose from. Coach four-year-olds where your main role is coax and encourage the beginners in the game or other age groups right through to the older teens. The outdoor season runs April through June and both recreational and competitive coaches are welcome. Coach courses and training are offered and available but not mandatory. Make a difference in a young person’s life.

Take part in the Steel’s Sweetheart Silent Auction, Saturday, Feb. 13 and volunteer as security where you will oversee silent auction tables that will display auction items and bid sheets. Shifts are available 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and can vary between two to eight hours in length.

This vibrant community’s 150th anniversary is in 2011 and planning is under way for yearlong celebrations that will cherish the past, honour the present and ignite the spirit of the future. If you have experience in managing and co-ordinating large numbers of volunteers, this could be the ideal position for you. As the chair of this committee, you will steer and direct your sub-committee in organizing volunteers for the many celebrations and events throughout the year.

Are you a positive individual and enjoy being with seniors? This Edmonton organization provides day programs for seniors to help keep them independent and active and needs volunteers to help with various recreational activities such as crafts, card and other games and general socializing.

The Alberta 55-Plus Winter Games are coming to St. Albert in 2011 and are seeking an individual to be part of the volunteer portfolio. This individual will oversee the communications and orientation process for volunteers. If you are a people person and have strong writing skills, volunteer to be part of the team and part of the excitement as St. Albert brings it on to the rest of the province.

Are you available April 16 to 18 to assist with the St. Albert Trade Show? Various positions available at this family and community event include admissions desk, ambassadors for the event, stage area and concession maintenance and manning the volunteer lounge, fire exits and exhibitors’ door. Have some fun and meet some dynamic new people. Shifts are flexible to fit your schedule.
