Update: St. Albert RCMP locate dog involved in dog bite incident

St. Albert RCMP says they were able to identify the the dog and its owner involved in serious bite incident.

RCMP report there is an "unfolding event" happening in the North West quadrant of the city. The RCMP are asking residents to avoid the area.

The St. Albert RCMP, with the assistance of the St. Albert General Investigation Section (GIS) and St. Albert Municipal Enforcement Services (MES), have identified the dog and its owner involved in a recent dog bite incident. 

According to the St. Albert RCMP, on Aug. 14 at around 7:45 p.m., a 61-year-old woman was walking her dog when a large black dog bit her. The woman was taken to the hospital by EMS and required surgery. Her dog, a Golden Retriever, was also injured and was admitted to a veterinary clinic for treatment.

The dog that injured the woman and her dog is legally registered/licenced through the City of St. Albert and has been placed on a 10-day quarantine, which is a mandatory requirement through Alberta Health Services. 

At this time, the investigation has been turned over to Municipal Enforcement Services for follow up.
