The St. Albert Community Information & Volunteer Centre has many volunteer opportunities to choose from and can help find the right fit for you, even if you are not sure of what that might be. Assist this organization with sorting food and toys and putting together Christmas hampers. Work will involve lifting lighter objects, sorting, packing, and lots of smiling, as you help others in need! The work bee happens December 12, 14 & 15, 2009.

Assist this organization to provide much needed community youth programs and services. In this role, you will provide guidance and leadership to the organization in financial matters including budget preparation, business accounting and reporting. A CA, CMA or CGA designation is required.

Help this organization grant wishes to create hope and happiness for children with life-threatening illnesses. You can help grant wishes in many ways, making the wish experience as unique as each child and the experience a lasting and memorable one for each wish family.

In this upcoming season of giving, volunteer to support this organization that helps so many in need all year. From November 21 – December 24, 2009, volunteer to help accept donations at various St. Albert locations. Shifts are 2 hours each.

Do you have intermediate alpine skiing or snowboarding skills? Help people with disabilities to live richer and fuller lives by sharing those skills and providing ski or snowboard instruction to these individuals. Lessons are Wednesday evenings at Rabbit Hill, during an eight-week learn to ski program, Jan. 13 to March 3, 2010.

Share your gift of listening, good conversation and favourite activities such as cards and board games. Volunteers needed to visit clients in their homes. Provide that much needed connection with the community for those who are isolated and lonely and brighten someone’s day, as you visit with a senior or a person with a disability in their home.

Be there to listen when life hurts, and volunteer to answer the distress line, a 24-hour crisis line serving Edmonton and surrounding communities. You will be the first contact the caller has when seeking support, information, understanding, or a listening ear. By being there to listen, you can make a direct, positive impact on someone who is in distress.

Are you friendly, good with people and enjoy people interaction? Help celebrate New Year’s Eve, December 31, 2009, in downtown Edmonton. Various volunteer positions include security, information specialist, horse/wagon ride attendant, children’s craft assistant and volunteer room monitor.
