Library outreach assistant

If you enjoy books and reading and would enjoy bringing that pleasure to seniors in our community, this opportunity will interest you. In this role you will provide outreach library services to seniors who are residents of a senior care centre in St. Albert.

New Year's Eve celebration

Are you friendly and good with people? Help celebrate New Year's Eve, Dec. 31 in downtown Edmonton. Various volunteer positions include security, information specialist, horse/wagon ride attendant, children's craft assistant and volunteer room monitor.

Board member

This local society oversees an affordable location for three vibrant and active local organizations, and is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to serve as a board member. The volunteer should have an interest in utilizing experience and knowledge of the community in making a difference. Your time commitment would involve quarterly board meetings and an annual general meeting in June.

Expressive arts program aide

Make a difference in the lives of children who are grieving personal losses and help group facilitators provide a safe, supportive and consistent environment for children who are grieving. Under the direction of facilitators, the aides will use expressive arts (music, drawing and painting) to help children tell their stories of loss and grief, learn about grief and move towards healing their pain. Volunteers must have respect for children and have an ease and enthusiasm for working with them.

Ski/snowboard instructor

Do you have intermediate alpine skiing or snowboarding skills? Help people with disabilities live richer and fuller lives by sharing those skills and providing ski or snowboard instruction. Lessons are Wednesday evenings at Rabbit Hill, during an eight-week Learn to Ski program, Jan 13 to March 3.

Feeding assistant

Are you a compassionate person and enjoy seniors? Volunteers needed in a local seniors' home to assist residents with meals. Feeding assistants needed for all meals and any day of the week, but most in need of help on the weekends.

Alberta 55-Plus Winter Games committees

The Alberta 55-Plus Winter Games are coming to St. Albert in 2011 and the volunteer portfolio is seeking two individuals to help ensure the volunteer requirements of the games are met, one to chair the accreditation and identification process for volunteers and the other to chair the communications and orientation process. Be a part of the excitement as St. Albert brings it on to the rest of the province.
