St. Albert weather: Smoke to clear this afternoon

A cloudier Saturday than expected earlier in the week is expected to give way to a sunny Sunday

“Rain, rain go away,” St. Albert said, and the rain said, “OK.”

What was a threat of rain all day Thursday has become more of an implication from Environment Canada.

The agency’s forecast now predicts today, Friday, will join the rest of the weekend for one more sunny bash before the summer calls it for another year next week.

Currently it’s 9.4 C at the Villeneuve weather station with a light air of 15 km/h out of the northwest.

The wind is expected to pick up to 20 km/h and clear the smoky conditions overhead by 2 p.m. and paving the way for mainly sunny skies until a few clouds roll in at 8 p.m. Today’s will be 18 C with a pesky 30 per cent chance of showers ever lurking in the distance.

Partly cloudy conditions should persist overnight to Saturday morning, when Environment Canada warns of periods of rain with a high of just 14 C.

The 30 per cent chance of rain increases to 70 per cent overnight to Sunday, when the sun is expected to make another appearance and push the high to 18 C. Monday is still expected to be the same, clear skies and a high of 21 C.

No need to ruin the weekend by warning rain could return next week, so let’s not.
