Cold conditions will break at the start of the work week in St. Albert, according to Environment Canada.

The sun will come out today in St. Albert but it will bring no relief from the cold.

Wind out of the southeast at 20 km/g this morning, Friday, Jan. 3, will make it feel like -34. Today's high is expected to be -19 C, according to Environment Canada's forecast, which doesn't see much on the horizon but a risk of frostbite.

There's a 30 per cent chance of flurries overnight to Saturday with a windchill near -30 and light snow beginning before morning. Two centimetres could fall throughout the day, which will also be frigid at a steady -17 C feeling more like -26 with the 15 km/h wind.

Warmer temperatures are expected to start the work week, with a high of 7 C forecast for Wednesday.
