St. Albert will be playing host to both the U13B and U15B girls fastball Provincials this coming weekend at the Meadowview Ball Park.

The Fastball Association of St. Albert is thrilled to be helping host two Provincials. Each Provincial tournament will consist of 10 teams split up into two five team draws, featuring over 300 of the best fastball players in Alberta. St. Albert will be well represented in both Provincial tournaments, as there are two teams from St. Albert competing in the U13B bracket, and one team competing in the U15B bracket.

Having two fastball Provincials going on at the same time ensures that there will be lots of fastball played this upcoming weekend. A fact that has St. Albert Fastball Treasurer Shawna Wasylyshyn excited.

"Were thrilled to be hosting 20 teams. These are Alberta's finest players, and were happy to bring them to St. Albert to play."

The excitement isn't lost on the teams playing in the tournament. Jared Leibel, head coach of the U15B St. Albert Angels, was quick to share how excited his team is to be playing Provincials.

"The team is very excited. We picked this team in October and trained all winter. The goal was to build for this weekend, and were excited to play in front of our family and fans."

The prospect of a home field advantage is something that teams in any sport want. It should also be appreciated stated U13B St. Albert Angels (white) head coach Blair Troock.

"We want St. Albert to come out and support. Were really hoping a lot of people come out. We want a great turnout; it would mean the world to these kids to have the community rally behind them."

Coach Troock was quick to state the excitement of playing with another St. Albert team in the bracket.

"Having two teams playing in Provincials is super exciting. All the girls have played with each other growing up. It's awesome there in a different draw as well, because seeing each other Sunday would be amazing."

With three St. Albert fastball teams playing this upcoming weekend, there will be plenty of opportunity to go out and support them. The opening ceremony for the U13B Provincials will take place at 9:00 a.m., while the U15B Provincals will have a start time of 9:15 a.m. for the opening ceremony. The games will officially start at 11:00 a.m. for the U13B fastball teams, and at 11:15 a.m. for the U15B teams.

The U13B St. Albert Angels white team's first game is at 11:00 a.m., and the U13B St. Albert Angels blue team has a start time of 1:00 p.m. for its opening game. Both the U13B Bronze and Gold medal games will be played at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 21.

The U15B St. Albert Angels first game will start at 11:15 a.m. after the opening ceremony has completed. The U15B Bronze medal game will be played at 11:45 a.m., while the Gold medal game will start at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 21.
