The snow in the forecast for St. Albert has prompted a special weather statement from Environment Canada.
As much as five centimetres is expected to accumulate Tuesday morning, thanks to a low pressure system moving through the Edmonton region.
"Precipitation will likely begin as rain early Monday evening," the statement, issued shortly after noon Monday, reads. "There will be a brief risk of freezing rain before precipitation changes to snow later Monday night.
"Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions."
Monday’s potential rain is expected to persist through the evening and change to snow sometime after midnight.
Snowy conditions are expected to end in the late morning, and the sky to clear sometime shortly afterward, dropping a total of 2 cm of the white stuff. Winds from the northwest will sustain at 20 km/h and gust to 40 km/h.
A mix of sun and cloud Wednesday should produce a high of 6 C, leading to double-digit highs at the end of the week.
