Two St. Albert schools and a tennis court were vandalized late on New Year's Eve, and now the St. Albert RCMP are asking for the public's assistance to identify the suspect.
WD Cuts Junior High School, Bertha Kennedy Elementary School, and the tennis court behind the junior high school were vandalized with graffiti around midnight on Jan. 1, according to the St. Albert RCMP.
The unknown suspect was captured on nearby surveillance cameras spray painting "inappropriate words" according to WD Cuts Junior High School Principal Cory Albrecht, but said there was no other damage done to the school or the tennis court.
The suspect is described as light skinned with a thin build and was wearing a black toque, black jacket, and red and black checkered lounge pants.
Because of the cold weather, crews were unable to clean up the markings right away.
"It was too cold immediately following New Year's Eve so they had just spray painted over some of the offensive words just to cover it up," Albrecht said. The total cost to clean the graffiti is unknown, but it took most of the day to clean with a pressure washer, Albrecht said.
Anyone who may have information about the identity of the suspect is asked to contact the St. Albert RCMP. Anyone who wishes to remain anonymous can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), online at www.P3Tips.com or by using the "P3 Tips" app available through the Apple App or Google Play Store.
