Bandits made a very illegal take-out order at a new restaurant last week and police are looking for help tracking the culprits.

Around 2:45 a.m. on Jan. 11 thieves broke into Avocado Restaurant and Lounge and stole an ATM machine that was inside the recently opened eatery, located at 570 St. Albert Trail, just south of the intersection with Boudreau Road and Giroux Road.

St. Albert RCMP Cpl. Laurel Kading said whoever committed the crime seemed to have the machine in mind when they broke in.

“It doesn’t appear the rest of the restaurant was bothered.”

Kading said police are looking for any help the public can provide on this case, including the location of the machine itself, which is still missing.

“If they break into the ATM machine it is going to get dumped somewhere, too. Usually people are very good at reporting that kind of thing to us, but if they do see it please call us.”

She said police are obviously looking for someone who might have driven past the restaurant and noticed any person or vehicle nearby, but at this point any information would be helpful.

“If they overhear people talking about money from an ATM or anything like that. We are just looking for any help we can get.”

Anyone with any information on the case can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or the St. Albert RCMP at 780-458-7700.
