Mounties made one arrest following an “incident” in St. Albert's Akinsdale neighbourhood that started Saturday evening and continued to the early morning on Sunday, June 23, although no charges have been laid.
The incident was contained to a residence on Apple Place near Akins Drive on Saturday night after 10:00 p.m., and the local RCMP detachment issued an update on the situation early Sunday morning saying an arrest was made.
RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Troy Savinkoff told the Gazette that for legal reasons he couldn't disclose what the nature of the incident was, but said there haven't been any charges laid against the individual as of Monday morning.
“It was a high risk situation,” Savinkoff said, adding that there were no injuries as a result of the incident.
Although the incident was contained to one residence, a few nearby homes were asked to shelter in place until RCMP cleared the scene, and Savinkoff said those residents were advised that the need to take shelter ended after the arrest was made.
