St. Albert-Edmonton MP Michael Cooper says he is "shocked and horrified" after learning two Edmonton Police Officers were shot and killed early this morning when they attended a domestic dispute call at an Edmonton apartment building.

St. Albert MLA Marie Renaud sends condolences to friends, family, and colleagues of the two EPS officers killed while responding to a domestic dispute call early this morning.

The deceased EPS members are West Branch patrol officers, Const. Brett Ryan, 30, with 5.5 years of service and Const. Travis Jordan, 35, with 8.5 years of service.

Many St. Albert residents took to Facebook to report seeing and feeling their homes shake after three 4.4 to 4.6 magnitude earthquakes occurred near Reno, Alberta earlier this morning.

"These two fallen officers gave their lives to protect the city they serve. Thank you for your service."

EPS Chief Dale McFee has confirmed the suspect behind the killing of two officers this morning is deceased.

The young male suspect died from a self-inflicted gun-shot wound.

"Thank you to all those who face such sacrifices for our safety; the names of these 2 officers will be remembered for the heroes they are."
