Many St. Albert residents took to Facebook this morning to report seeing and feeling their homes shake after three 4.4 to 4.6 magnitude earthquakes occurred near Reno, Alberta.

Reno is almost 450 kilometres northwest of St. Albert.

A post made in the Facebook group "St. Albert Chat" drew over 80 comments in under three hours as residents reported seeing objects sway back and forth, rattling doors, and homes shaking.

Chris Goodwin commented that he watched his desk sway. "I felt this one really good!," he said.

“I thought I was having a bout of vertigo as I sat at my desk at work on the west end,” commented Sheila Marie.

Other residents who commented on the post said they felt the effects in neighbourhoods including Erin Ridge, North Ridge, Heritage Lakes, Jensen Lakes, and parts of north Edmonton.

According to the Natural Resources Canada website, the three quakes were the first in Alberta so far this year.

Last November there were eight earthquakes reported near Reno over the course of just two days, with the largest registering a magnitude of 5.1.
