Make sure to vote

As a citizen who has exercised my democratic right to vote, both provincially and federally for over 45 years I have come to understand some basic truths about electioneering and voting which I think are important for all to contemplate. Firstly, election promises are seldom kept, so voting based on these ideals is not very fruitful. Secondly, the whole process of enacting anything into reality is difficult and oft times drags on so long, and experiences so many modifications that the original intent of the bill is never actually attained. Thirdly, casting a ballot for the leader of any particular party is no guarantee that your vote is going to count unless of course you actually live in that same riding! So my advice to each and every one is to mark your ballot for the person in your riding whom you feel is best aligned with your personal beliefs and goals and who you feel deserves your trust and support, as ultimately they will be the individual who is directly answerable to you! So please take the time to learn about your candidates, familiarize yourself with their personal platforms and make an informed decision that best reflects the issues important to you! Most importantly however is to show up on May 29th and vote; for as Gandhi famously said “ If you want to change the world, start with you.”
