LETTER: We're surrounded by profitable solar-farm projects

Re: "German firm eyes Heartland for 200MW solar farm," The Gazette, May 4.

We see a large solar project near Vulcan, Calgary, and another in Edmonton, yet somehow the older generation in St. Albert who bought ads in opposition to a solar farm in St. Albert believe they are not profitable.

If we can see large organizations investing large amounts of money into these types of projects with the expectation of making their investment back, how can this community avoid something that will actually offset taxes for years to come?

The people who are opposed to it are mostly individuals who won't be around to foot the fat tax bill you will leave the next generations. I hope our council leads on this issue and doesn't pander to the loudest voice in the room.

Pierre Rocque, St. Albert
