LETTER: Taxpayers already face losses, never mind tax hikes spent on 'nonsense'

'You want to have all these extra amenities, pay for them yourselves. Stop robbing the rest of us.'

Amazingly enough, council again starts with a “we need to increase taxes by eight to nine per cent,” with an eye to dropping that to five to six per cent to look like heroes.

Unfortunately, only actual earners, (so not city or government employees) won’t see that kind of increase in income. Actually, they’ll see losses, and other costs of living rising.

Where do the geniuses on council expect these dollars to come from? That they toss it away on nonsense like extra hockey arenas, that a vast majority won’t see, use, or enjoy, is ridiculous. You want to have all these extra amenities, pay for them yourselves. Stop robbing the rest of us. Does Servus Place ring a bell?
