LETTER: Plenty of reasons not to re-elect city council

"They are not working for the people who voted them in."
letter-sta

Our current St. Albert council does not deserve re-election this fall. They are underhanded, and have little integrity. Case in point: the survey and plebiscite results ignored.

The library was a "no" for the public, but a "yes" for council. But that’s old news, right?

The drop in speed limit to 40 km/h in residential areas. Most residents said “no,” but council said, "yes." They got what they wanted again. Also, with this speed-change situation, the promise was for Dawson Road and Poirier Avenue to move from 50 km/h to 60 km/h, but that doesn’t look like it's happening. Do they think the public doesn’t read or remember anything? It’s so ironic that council members were tripping over themselves to get the 40 km/h signs up, but those two streets have remained at 50 km/h.

And how did this solar farm come to be? I first heard of it in The Gazette not that long ago. It seems like another St. Albert council pet project, creating dust and noise, like we don’t have enough of that already.

Again, let’s get this council voted out in October. They are not working for the people who voted them in.

Tony Gull, St. Albert
