LETTER: In poor taste to ticket for off-leash violations before educating park users

'Education is non-existent, and the manner in which several St. Albert seniors have been confronted appears more appropriate for major crime.'

Re: "Policing of off-leash area heavy handed," Letters, The Gazette, May 4.

I totally concur with the letter from C. Albrecht, when it was correctly pointed out that a zero-tolerance policy regarding the Willoughby Park off-leash area is heavy handed.

There is no signage or markers of any kind showing where school property meets the off-leash area, or where one can walk through to reach it. Education is non-existent, and the manner in which several St. Albert seniors have been confronted appears more appropriate for major crime.

One lady even told of receiving a ticket at 8 a.m. last Sunday, in a totally silent and empty space. All this has done is leave a bad taste with a few long-term residents, which is not going away anytime soon.
