I would like to sincerely thank the bagpiper of Grandin. On the morning of Remembrance Day, I went out on my steps to honour our past and present military with a few minutes of silence.
I recently lost my father, he was a proud Second World War survivor and had helped liberate the Netherlands. My nephew is a wounded PPCLI vet of our Afghanistan conflict. We have always attended Remembrance Day assemblies, but of course this year is different. As I stood in the cold crisp silence, holding my father's picture and wearing his poppy, the bagpipes began.
Words can't express the gratitude I felt, knowing I wasn't alone in my memories. The feeling of community was as beautiful as any formal ceremony has ever been. Thank you.
