LETTER: City's control of magpies, crows, a benefit to songbirds

Waking up to robin and house finch a welcome change

Re: "Thank you to city for controlling magpies, crows," Letters, June 29.

I would also like to thank the City of St. Albert for finally recognizing and acknowledging the destructiveness of the magpie and crow population towards the songbird (and especially the migratory) species. I appreciate the effort utilized in controlling these marauding birds.

Could thought also be put into controlling the dominating English house sparrow that nests in the eaves of houses out of reach of the magpies and crows?

Again, it is so welcoming waking up to the trill of the robin and house finch.

God bless you all at the city level for taking up this challenge to bring songbird life back to our city.

Agnes Steele, St. Albert
